How to Root LG K20 Plus MetroPCS & T Mobile with Magisk

Before rooting you have to –

 

Step 1: Unlock the LG K20 Plus Bootloader

Step 2: Install Custom Recovery (TWRP) on your K20 Plus

Now that you’ve installed TWRP, follow the steps below to get your device rooted –

 

Step 3: Download and transfer Magisk.zip file to Phone’s Internal Storage or SD Card

LG K20 Plus TWRP/Custom Recovery for MetroPCS MP260 & TP260 – How to Flash

TWRP (Custom recovery ) can be extremely useful, not just for rooting your K20 Plus but in many other ways. First of all, with TWRP you can create a nandroid backup. It’s a complete system backup which will restore your phone to the exact same state as before. As after rooting your phone is more susceptible to bricking if messed with, a nandroid backup can be a savior. Thanks to messi2050@xda for making TWRP for K20 Plus.

TWRP can also be used to Flash custom ROMs such as lineage OS. A custom ROM is much more customizable than a stock ROM. Various K20 Plus Mods and Hacks are achievable with the help of TWRP.

LG K20 Plus Unlock Bootloader – MetroPCS MP260 & T-Mobile TP260

The best thing about MetroPCS / T-Mobile phones is, their bootloaders are unlockable, and that’s the very reason their phones are the most popular among the prepaid smartphones.

LG K20 Plus is one such MetroPCS Smartphone. Once we unlock its bootloader, we can easily flash a custom recovery such as TWRP. In TWRP can easily flash Magisk or SuperSU to root our K20 plus.

“Bootloader unlock” should not be confused with SIM unlock. Your device will remain locked for other carriers even after unlocking the bootloader. Sim unlocking is an altogether different thing and needs to be dealt with in a different manner.

Now let’s proceed with the bootloader unlocking –

Before connecting your phone to the computer you should install the LG K20 USB Driver on your PC.

How to Unlock LG K20 Plus Bootloader

Before proceeding with the below procedure, we’ve to turn on “USB Debugging” and Enable “OEM unlock” within the developer options.

 

Once done, connect your K20 Plus to PC via USB data cable and select USB connection mode as “Charging” or “File Transfer”.
