The default theme on the LG K51 is a light one with a white background. The white light can put a strain on eyes under low light conditions. Moreover, battery life can be almost doubled when using Dark Mode.
How to enable Dark Mode on LG K51
There are 3 types of Dark Mode on LG K51. They are Night Mode, Maximum Battery Saver Mode & High Contrast Screen. Let’s check them out one by one –
1. LG K51 Night Mode / Dark Mode
Open the Settings app on your K51 and click “Display” as shown above.
Look for “Night mode” on the Display page and tap on it.
Use the “Toggle Switch” to turn on the “Night Mode”.
The LG K51 Dark Mode is enabled.
In K51 Night Mode, the home screen looks the same, except for the Google search bar as marked above.
The above screenshot shows the dark keyboard and the notification panel in Night Mode.
The phone dialer and the messaging app also have a black background.
We can schedule the Night Mode/Dark Mode as per our daily routine. You can either set it as per your sleeping schedule or keep it enabled from the sunset to sunrise.
The default night mode schedule is set from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
On my K51, I wish to auto-enable the night mode at 12 AM.
I’ve scheduled the Night Mode to turn off at 8 AM every day.
2. LG K51 High Contrast Screen
The 2nd method to enable the dark mode is the High Contrast Screen.
Open Settings and scroll down to the bottom of the page.
Hit “Accessibility”.
Open the first option on the Accessibility page i.e. “Vision”.
On the “Vision” page, tap “Hight contrast screen” to enable it.
As the name suggests, during this mode the screen contrast is increased & the background is turned black.
You can see the home screen background is now pitch black. This was not the case in Night Mode.
3. LG K51 Maximum Battery Saver Mode
The 3rd and the most useful Dark Mode is the maximum battery saver mode. This mode can almost double your LG K51’s battery life.
Open the Settings app and click “Battery”.
Look for “Battery Saver” and select it to open.
There are 2 kinds of battery saver modes on K51 – Extended & Maximum.
The maximum mode is the Dark Mode.
Tap “Maximum” to enable it.
When the Maximum battery saver mode is turned on –
- Vibration, Wifi & Bluetooth is turned off.
- Location services are disabled (when the screen is off).
- Night mode is turned on.
- Frame rate is reduced.
- Background app activity & data activity is restricted.
- Maximum brightness is reduced to 80%.
Tap “TURN ON” to enable the “Maximum Mode”.
Tap “Edit mode” to make any changes to the Maximum Mode.
The Home Screen background is turned all black during the Maximum Mode.
Same is the case with the Dialer & Texting app.
To turn off the Maximum Mode –
Pull down the notification bar and tap “Battery saver is on”.
This takes us to the “Battery Saver” page.
Hit “Off” to get back to the normal mode.
