You may be aware that most of the budget LG phones have the power button at the back including LG K30.

I noticed that over a period of time, the power button fails to respond in one click. So, it may happen that your phone is in sleep mode and you are unable to turn on the phone due to a bad power button.

To make sure, you can double-tap to wake up the screen. If double-tap works but the power button fails, then it’s time to replace your LG K30/K40 power key.

If it still fails to boot then try the next step.

3. Make sure the battery is not fully drained – Connect your phone to a wall charger

One more thing to check is the battery juice. Make sure you’ve not fully drained your K30 / K40 battery. Connect your phone to a wall charger. Let is charge for a while and try to restart the phone.

Try different chargers and different power outlets if the phone fails to charge.

Still, no success.  Let’s try the Recovery Mode in the next step.

4. Try to boot your K40/K30 into recovery mode

If you are unable to boot your phone to the home screen, let’s try to boot into the recovery mode. It’s a separate partition that can be used to hard reset the phone.

While in recovery mode, it’s preferable to reset the phone. If you can take the risk of losing your internal storage data, move ahead and reset your phone using Recovery Mode. Follow the below guide –

7. Other Hardware Issues

In case of a defective charging port, battery, or motherboard, the phone would fail to boot. In such a case, only a hardware repair can fix the issue.

If your phone is within warranty then send your phone for repair or replacement.

8. If the phone turns off abruptly

If you’re able to boot your K30 / K40 but it turns off abruptly, then you should check the battery status. A bad battery fails to retain the juice for long.

  1. I received the LG K30 through Sasktel last month. My screen likes to be black when a call is coming in and nothing I do will work. I cancelled the knock-knock and swipe since neither would work. I use the button on the side to open but it takes several tries. I continue using during the call it as the screen keeps going black. Then I use the same side button to close the phone. I cannot answer in time quite often and when I do gain access I check my call log to return the call.

I tried the hold power button and Volume button down for 10 seconds and also completed a forced restart. I am now charging the phone and hoping tomorrow it will be possible to answer my calls in time with a lite screen not a black one.

If not would you suggest more help or should I just call Sasktel about the problems and ask for another cell phone please….that works.

  2. I recently bought an LG K40 about 6 months ago and today i was going through social media when my screen suddenly went black, it wasnt because it went dead since it was at 87%and ive been trying to get it to turn on for almost an hour now i have no clue what happened
