Are you locked out on your LG K40 due to a forgotten pin, pattern, or password? Do you wish to bypass the lock screen without reset? Let’s check out our options.
In this troubleshooting guide, we are going to learn how to bypass LG K40 lock screen with the help of the below video & screenshots –
LG K40 Lock Screen Bypass – Forgot PIN, Pattern, Password – Locked Out
The above screenshot shows the LG K40 Pattern Lock Screen. I failed to draw the correct pattern lock.
In the earlier versions of Android, we use to get a Forgot Password option after a few failed attempts. That way we could recover our phone by signing-in to the Google account.
I tried to do that same on my LG K40.
To my dismay, I never got any other option to recover my phone. It kept on asking to draw the correct pattern.
The wait time kept on increasing after every few failed attempts.
I tried up to 100 times but still no luck.
This shows that we cannot bypass the lock screen on LG K40 without reset. Now our only option left is to hard reset the phone.
Let’s “Power off” our K40 and reset it using the Volume Down & Power button combination.
It doesn’t let us to even power off before unlocking the screen.
We cannot wait for the battery to dry down. Let’s reset it by restarting the phone.
Long-Press the power button and select “Power off and restart”.
During the restart, when the phone turns off and the screen turns black, hold the volume down & power button as shown above.
When the phone vibrates (or when LG K40 appears on the screen), release the power key and hold it again. Don’t release the volume down button.
If done correctly, you must in the LG K40 recovery mode.
The above factory data reset screen is the LG K40 recovery mode.
On this screen, the volume rocker can be used to move up and down. Use the power key to select an option.
We have to move from “No (Exit)” to “Yes” using the volume down button. Click the power button to confirm this selection.
Again move down from “No (Exit)” to “Yes” and press the power button to initiate the factory reset process.
Now the phone is being erased. Wait for the process to complete.
Now, we are on the “Welcome” screen of the setup wizard.
Move ahead using the forward arrow.
Connect to your Wifi internet connection and proceed further.
This brings us again to a “Draw Pattern” screen. Here we get one more option. We can also use the Google Account to get past this screen.
Sign in with the last synced Google Account on this device. Once you’re signed in, follow the on-screen prompts to finish the setup wizard to land on the LG K40 home screen.
If you don’t remember the Google Sign-in details then keep following the further steps to bypass the Google Verification Screen.
First of all, power off your LG K40.
Now, get hold of another phone to add a SIM Card lock.
I’m using LG K30 MetroPCS for this task.
If using and LG Android phone, Go to Settings > Lock Screen & Security < Set up SIM card lock.
Tap “Lock SIM Card”. It’ll ask for the current PIN. The default MetroPCS SIM lock pin is 1234
Enter the SIM Card pin and hit “OK”.
We have locked our SIM Card with the PIN 1234.
In the next step, we are going to install this locked SIM on our LG K40.
Insert the locked SIM using a SIM ejector tool as per the above instructions.
Now turn on your LG K40.
As soon as it boots up, it’ll ask for the SIM PIN code.
Enter the code 1234 and click the “tick” icon.
Now we get an “Android Setup Not signed in” notification on the screen.
We have to unlock the screen by swiping from this “Not signed in” notification towards the bottom of the screen. Follow the arrow as marked in the above screenshot.
Make sure not to unlock the screen by swiping in the upward direction.
If done in the correct manner, a notification panel would be visible on the top of the screen.
Long press the “Bluetooth” option.
Turn on Bluetooth.
We have to send an image file from another device to LG K40.
I’m again using LG K30 to send an image file to K40.
I’ve opened the Gallery app. I’m sharing an LG K30 home screen screenshot via Bluetooth as shown above.
You can share, any image file via Bluetooth.
It has detected the nearby Bluetooth device i.e. LG K40.
Now, it’s sending the file to LG K40.
Accept the Bluetooth image file on K40.
On the Bluetooth page, click the “3 dots” icon on the right-hand top.
Select “Received files” as shown above.
Tap the image file to open it.
We have to use the “Photos” app to open this file.
Give the necessary app permissions by hitting “ALLOW”.
Now click the “Share” icon to share this image.
Among the various listed options, we have to choose “Gmail” as the sharing medium.
We are now in the Gmail app. Click the “SKIP” option to move ahead.
Now select, “Add an email address”.
We are on the “Set up email” page. Select the last option “Other”.
The next page asks for the email address.
Add any email id just to highlight the “MANUAL SETUP” option.
Now select the account type as “Exchange”.
On the next page, hit “SELECT” as marked in the above screenshot.
An “Attention” pop-up appears on the screen.
It says we need to add a secure screen lock to move ahead.
Hit “CHANGE” to accept the request.
This time we are on the “Select screen lock” page.
Here we can set and Pattern, PIN or password as the screen lock.
I’m going to add an easy to remember PIN lock.
My PIN lock is 1234.
A text flashes on the screen “Screen lock has been changed”.
Now we have to go back to the very first “Welcome” page of setup wizard.
Use the back button and keep going backward.
Keep going back using the back button as shown above.
When on the Welcome screen, use the forward arrow to move ahead.
Follow the on-screen prompts to keep moving further.
When it asks to Enter PIN, type the PIN we just added a few steps ago i.e. 1234
Once you enter the correct PIN, it will take you to the Google Sign-in page.
This time we get a “Skip” option on the bottom left corner.
Hit “Skip” to move ahead.
Accept Google services terms and conditions.
Keep moving further following the on-screen prompts.
At last, we are on the Legal Documents page. Tick the respective checkboxes and hit “DONE” to land on the LG K40 Home Screen.
We have successfully bypassed the lock screen on LG K40.
