LG K31 Rebel Screen Mirroring, Miracast, Cast to Roku TV

LG K31 is a budget phone with an underpowered Mediatek Helio P22 processor. For a smooth screen mirroring experience without a frame drop, we need at least a mid-range processor such as Snapdragon SDM 450 found on K40.

Moreover, for screen mirroring, the phone should be Miracast enabled. Let’s see if there is the Screen Casting option on LG K31 or not –

Does LG K31 have Screen Mirroring/Miracast?

To check the Cast option on LG K31, we need to open the Settings app.

Let’s pull down the notification panel and hit the Settings icon.

I searched the term “Cast” in the Settings app. The output was “No results found”.

I couldn’t find any option related to Casting or Mirroring on K31 anywhere on the phone.

So, we need to check out other ways to mirror our K31 screen to the TV. Let’s check out our options –

How to Mirror LG K31 to TV

Even without the Cast option on K31, we can mirror our phone screen via Chromecast.

Chromecast uses its native Google home app for Screen mirroring.

First of all, we should connect our phone to the internet via Wifi.

Pull down the notification panel and tap the “Settings icon”.

Now, go to “Network & Internet” and turn on Wifi.

My K31 is connected to the “Home Wifi” network.

Now, let’s begin the Chromecast setup. I’ve connected Chromecast to my TV.

It says we need to begin the setup via the Google Home app.

Let’s download “Google home” from the Play Store.

Open Google home and tap “Get started” to begin the setup.

We need to select a Google account to proceed further.

In the next step, we need to give the location access to the Google Home app.

For better connectivity, we need to turn on Bluetooth as shown above.

Now, it’s looking for the available Chromecast devices in the vicinity.

The Chromecast device with the id Chromecast5976 is found.

Let’s set up this Chromecast device.

A code is shown on the phone screen S3N4

We need to match this code to make sure we are connected to the right Chromecast device.

The same code is displayed on the TV screen. We are connected to the right Chromecast device.

Now, let’s choose the Chromecast device location. I’ve chosen “Basement” as the device location.

In the next step, we need to select the Wifi network we are going to use with Chromecast.

Select the Wifi network and hit “Next”.

Now, the Chromecast is connecting to the Wifi network.

It’s connected. We are ready for Screen Mirroring.

We are almost done. Let’s check out how to mirror our K31 screen to the TV.

The name of my Chromecast device is “Basement TV”.

Tap “Basement TV” and then “Cast my screen” as shown above.

A pop-up appears on the screen “Cast to mirror device”. Hit “Cast screen” to begin screen mirroring.

Select “Basement TV” to begin screen casting.

Now, let’s cast a video “LG K40 Secret Codes”. Hit “Play” to watch this video on the TV screen.

The video has started playing on the TV screen.

During the screencasting, we can use our K31 for other tasks. The video will keep playing on the TV screen.

To end screen mirroring, we need to open the Google Home and tap “Stop Mirroring” as shown above.

Now, what to do if you don’t have Chromecast, but some other Miracast device such as Firestick, Roku, etc.

In this case, we need to rely on a 3rd party app from the Play Store. Let’s see how to cast our K31 screen to Roku, Firestick, etc. –
