The Wi-fi reception differs from phone to phone. I realized this on my LG Phoenix 2 (AT&T). It has a very poor wifi range. I have to keep it close to the router for a stable wifi connection. LG K20 Plus has a decent Wi-fi range, at least in my case.
To fix the wifi connection problems on K20, K20 v & K20 Plus we need to find out whether the issue is software or hardware related. In this post, we’re going to check all the possibilities and will perform a diagnostic test as well to fix the LG K20 Wifi issue –
How to Fix Wifi Problems on LG K20, K20 Plus & K20 v
1. Make sure that Wi-Fi is on
The Wifi shortcut can be found in the navigation panel. Pull down the navigation bar and Tap “Wi-Fi” to turn it on.
Long-Press “Wi-Fi” to access wifi settings.
Alternatively, you can go to Settings < Networks < Wi-Fi as shown above.
Tap on your Wifi network and enter the correct password.
If it fails to connect, then move on to the next step of troubleshooting.
2. Make sure the Wi-Fi password is correct & Wi-Fi Signal strength is good
Make sure that you’re within the Wifi range. The Wifi signal strength should be good for a stable internet connection.
If your Wifi connection status is “Saved”, “Disabled” or says “Authentication Problem” then the Wi-Fi password may be incorrect.
Long-Press on your Wifi Network and select “Forget network”. Now re-enter the password and try to reconnect.
If this fails to fix the issue, move on to the next step.
3. Check the maximum allowed Wifi devices & make sure your device is not blocked
There may be a limit set on your Wi-Fi Router. If already many devices are connected to the same wifi network you K20 would fail to connect.
If your device’s Wifi Mac address is blocked on the Wifi network, you’ll see a “Wifi disabled” error.
4. Connect some other device to the same Wi-Fi network
At this stage, we need to make sure the issue is with the phone or Wi-Fi router.
Try to connect another phone to the same Wi-Fi network. This way we get to know that the issue is with the phone or Wifi connection.
If another phone fails to establish a Wifi connection, then the issue is with the Router. Reset the router & call your ISP if needed.
If the Router is fine and the issue is with K20, then move ahead towards the next step.
5. Soft Reset
Many a time a soft reset can fix the Wifi issue. Its nothing but a restart.
Remove the battery door and pull out the battery from your K20.
Reinsert the battery and power on your K20 Plus using the power button.
Once the phone is on, try to connect to your Wifi network.
If the soft reset doesn’t help then let’s try to reset the network settings in the next step.
6. Reset Network Settings
If the issue persists, try to reset the network settings.
Follow this post, to Reset Network Settings on your LG K20
If this fails to restore your wifi connection, we are going to clear the Wifi Cached data in the next step.
7. Clear Wifi Cached Data
Go to Settings < General < Apps
Hit the “3 Dots” icon. Select “Show system” among the listed options.
Scroll down and tap “Wi-Fi” as shown above.
Click “Storage”, on the Wi-Fi App info page.
Tap “Clear Cache” and “Clear Data” as shown above.
After the Wifi cached data is cleared, try to reconnect to your home wifi network.
In the next step, we are going to try the advanced wifi settings.
8. Try advanced Wifi Settings
Long-Press your Wifi network and select “Modify network”.
Enter your Wifi password and check “Show advanced options”.
In advanced options, we can change the Proxy & IP Settings.
The 2 types of Proxy Settings are “Manual” and “Proxy Auto-Config”.
In the Manual setting, you get 3 options, Proxy hostname, Proxy Port & Bypass proxy for.
In Proxy Auto-Config setting you’ve to enter the PAC URL as shown above.
The default IP Setting on LG K20 Plus is DHCP. You can change it to Static. Users have reported that Static IP has helped in fixing Wi-Fi issues.
